Twickenham United Reformed ChurchBaptisms, weddings and funeralsPlease contact us if you want to discuss any of these. Baptisms: In our denomination, we are willing to baptise small infants. This is the beginning of the process of joining the church, to be completed later when the child is old enough to make up his or her own mind. So we expect parents or carers of such children to maintain a meaningful connection with the church. If you don't feel able to do this, then please resist the pressure from your own parents to have the child "christened" and opt instead for a thanksgiving service. Because baptism is about bringing the child into the church, it takes place in the church's main meeting for worship, the Sunday morning service. As an alternative, a Thanksgiving Service lets you thank God for the birth of a child, and formally mark its coming into the world, This is more appropriate if you cannot make the big commitment to bringing the child up in the church, which baptism requires, or you prefer your child to be baptised when he/she is old enough to make up his/her own mind. Weddings: The church is available for weddings. There is no blanket ban on re-marrying divorced people. You would need to give several months notice so that we can make arrangements for someone to conduct the ceremony. There is a charge for the minister and use of the church plus the organist's fees and any flowers. We are also happy to give a church blessing to civil marriages, charges as for weddings. Funerals: You may contact us through your undertaker but please do not hesitate to get in touch directly. You may find helpful information on the Cruse and London Bereavement Network sites.
